Instead of learning single words first, GLPs communicate using chunks of language they’ve picked up from songs, books, movies, and conversations. These copied phrases—called “gestalts,” “scripts,” or “echolalia”—are meaningful building blocks that help them express themselves and grow their language skills over time.
At Beelieve, we embrace this natural way of learning and help kids turn their gestalts into flexible, independent communication!
Did you know?
Just like bees communicate in their own special way, so do our little learners! At Beelieve, we recognize that language develops differently for each child, and we’re here to support them every step of the way.
Our hive is built on:
🐝 Honoring each child’s natural way of learning
🌼 Creating a safe and supportive space to help language blossom
🐝 Encouraging meaningful connections and confident communication
Our approach to Gestalt Language Processing is neurodiversity-affirming, child-led, and tailored to your child’s strengths.
We beelieve in celebrating each unique voice—no matter how it buzzes!
Possible Signs of a Gestalt Language Learner:
-
Repeats long phrases or scripts from shows, songs, or people
-
Uses echolalia (immediate or delayed repeating)
-
Speech sounds sing-songy or dramatic
-
Says phrases that mean something different (e.g., “Do you want a snack?” to mean I want a snack)
-
Acts out scenes or uses favorite catchphrases in play
-
Has trouble answering wh- questions directly
-
Over time, phrases start to shorten and break down into new sentences.
