We’re the Harris family! I'm Carly, my spouse, Chase and I are the proud parents of Charlee (10) and Cash (7). Cash was born with spina bifida and although he faces physical challenges, he is full of joy, resilience, and curiosity. Spina bifida does not define Cash, but it has shaped so much of how we see the world and what we care about deeply.
What inspired Harris Family Assist?
Harris Family Accessibility Assist was born from our journey with Cash. Navigating life with a child who has mobility needs opened our eyes to just how many barriers exist -- not just physical, but emotional and systemic too. We saw a real need for community, resources, and practical help for families like ours. The heart behind the Harris Family Accessibility Assist Foundation is simple: we want to help families access the resources their children need to reach their full potential. We know firsthand how much these tools can change a child's life and we are passionate about making that possible for others. Together we are turning challenges into opportunities, one family at a time.

What do you do through the nonprofit?
At Harris Family Accessibility Assist Foundation, we aim to bridge the gap where insurance and systems fall short -- by providing mobility equipment to children who need it. We also focus on advocacy and education, working to raise awareness and push for a more inclusive world. Whether it's funding a wheelchair, sharing resources, or showing up in the community, everything we do centers around empowering families and celebrating mobility in all forms.
What does Mobility Awareness Month mean to you?
Mobility Awareness Month is personal for us. It’s a chance to shine a light on the beauty and strength in mobility differences, and to celebrate the amazing things people with mobility challenges accomplish every day. For our family, it’s about honoring Cash’s journey and continuing to push for a world that sees his potential, not just his wheelchair.
